A Few Frequently Asked Questions

How does my child register to play rugby?

If your child is new to the club, you will need to attend junior sign on day on TBD and bring your childs birth certificate or passport. Registration is all completed through Rugby Xplorer which is an app you can download in the apple or google store.

What is the grading process?

Players will be viewed whilst in training sessions as well as during the six trial

game/skill development games. The grading process is extensive, run by a group of independent volunteers and

chaired by an Easts Rugby Staff member.

Our grading volunteers, along with myself will be present at training sessions and allocated at the venues of where the above-listed trial games and skill development rounds are taking place. It is worth noting that our volunteer coaches are not involved in the selection of players for teams.

Throughout the course of the trial game and skill development rounds, teams will be selected on a week-by-week basis. Players may find they move between teams during this period- just because a player is picked in a coloured squad one trial week does not mean they will remain there for the season. The final squads will not be finalised until the completion of the final skill development rounds.

Where are games played?

Games are played all over the Brisbane region, here is a list of locations –

Can my child play down an age group?

Upon assessment of their physical development, ability, and experience, a player may receive dispensation to participate in an age grade that is one year below, or one year above, their eligible age grade. There is a $135 fee when applying for dispensation this is enforced by Brisbane Junior Rugby. Dispensation is completed by an independent coach and cannot be a coach for the club.

Example: A player turning 15 in the relevant calendar year is already eligible to play in the Under 15 and Under 16 age grades. With approved dispensation, the player may be able to participate in the Under 14 age grade (one year below), or Under 17 age grade (one year above).
